Since its inception in 1983, Target Community & Educational Services, Inc. (Target) has been dedicated to enhancing the lives of children and adults with intellectual and other disabilities through quality, community-based residential, educational, vocational, recreational and family support services.
Target’s dedicated employees conscientiously work to provide a safe and high quality of life for all clients, now numbering over 300. Our goal is to assist these individuals to be active and productive participants in our community and to live as independently as possible.
Target Community & Educational Services, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, donations to which may be tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. It is only through the dedicated commitment and support of caring people and businesses that Target can continue to provide the highest quality of programs and services to assist children and adults with intellectual and other disabilities to achieve full participation in our society. Congratulations to McDaniel College / Target Community & Educational Services, Inc. students who earned their Master's Degree in Human Services Management!
Target Community & Educational Services, Inc. congratulated McDaniel College students who earned their Master’s Degree in Human Services Management during a celebration on May 23rd. These students interned as Community Living Managers in Target’s residential program while completing their two year academic requirements at McDaniel College, ensuring that students receive real-life experiences in working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities while completing their education. Gallagher presents donation from proceeds from Celtic Canter Fundraiser
Dr. Patrick R. Gallagher III, DDS, PA presented a generous $2,100 gift to Dr. Tom Zirpoli, President & CEO of Target Community & Educational Services, Inc. (Target) and the Laurence J. Adams Endowed Chair at McDaniel College, and Meagan Elfert, Director of Volunteers & Interns of Target. This gift represents a portion of the proceeds raised through the Celtic Canter, an annual three-mile fun-run/walk fundraiser, organized and hosted by Dr. Gallagher and O’Lordan’s Irish Pub & Restaurant. Proceeds from this event were donated to the Carroll County Children’s Fund, Inc., Access Carroll, Inc. and Target Community & Educational Services, Inc. This community support serves as an investment in Target’s community-based services that enhance the lives of children and adults with intellectual and other disabilities, promoting greater independence and a high quality of life. 2013 Laurence J. Adams Community Service Award
The Laurence J. Adams Community Service Award, named after Target’s first Chairman of the Board,
is presented annually to an individual or business who exemplifies community service.
This year, we celebrate and salute the community service of Fairhaven.
Dr. Tom Zirpoli, Interim Provost and Professor at McDaniel College who holds the Laurence J. Adams Endowed Chair and serves as the President & CEO of Target Community & Educational Services, Inc. (Target), presented the Laurence J. Adams Community Service Award to Fairhaven, a continuing care retirement community, at the 2013 Spring Gala on March 2nd. This award is presented annually to an individual or company that has made a significant difference, not only for Target, but also for our greater community. Fairhaven, a continuing care retirement community, is graced by the talents, passion and commitment of its people. Fairhaven believes in the power of relationships, in living inspired and inspiring lives, and that together we are better. Fairhaven has been a valuable community leader for over 32 years. Fairhaven employs over 300 individuals and is home for 420 residents.
Fairhaven believes that it is through its partnerships with other community organizations that it can fulfill its mission and exemplify its guiding principles. Target is grateful for Fairhaven’s volunteer support and financial gifts. Robin Somers, Executive Director of Fairhaven, serves on Target’s Board of Directors and Quality Assurance Committee. Fairhaven’s colleagues and residents collaborate to host and contribute to annual fundraisers and drives that support various human services organizations in our community. Fairhaven serves as a teaching community for nursing and social work students and advocates for seniors. In recognition of Fairhaven’s exemplary community service, we present the 2013 Laurence J. Adams Community Service Award to Fairhaven with sincere appreciation.
Employees Honored for Years of Service
Dr. Tom Zirpoli, Interim Provost and Professor at McDaniel College who holds the Laurence J. Adams Endowed Chair and serves as the President & CEO of Target Community & Educational Services, Inc. (Target), presented The Donald Rabush Award to employees recognized for milestone years of service at the 2013 Spring Gala on March 2nd. “It is only through the work of Target’s dedicated employees that we are able to maintain a high level of quality services that enable our clients with intellectual and other disabilities to be active and productive members of our community and to live as independently as possible,” stated Zirpoli.
Jonathan Joseph and Lonyta McClain were honored for 20 years of dedicated service. Carolyn Wilson was recognized for 15 years of service. Jacqueline Aguglia, Tammy Brewer-Lokko, Julie Develin, Andrea Engle, Charles Martin and Maya Stiltz were acknowledged for ten years of committed service.
Recipients awarded for five years of service included Fern Ambush, Emmanuel Ansah, Jennifer Bell, Laura Bewley, Melissa Davis, Rachel Demby, Aminata Diallo, Deborah Gray, Mary Hamelink, Guy Mamboundy, Notashia McKenzie, Edward Ninda, Siah-Vivian Rennie, Shelby Robertson, Sandy Sipes, Colby Szekalski, Lidia Vasquez, Robin Waugh and Jessica White.
